"The Chipo Kandake Revue is a living archive following the evolution of American Music—Blues, Jazz, RnB, Rock n Roll & Funk"

ABOUT CHIPO
I'm a renaissance woman. Whether I'm performing, making films, painting, or traveling, how people dance is my map.
Since I was a kid listening to punk, new wave, hip hop, bounce, and techno, I've been fascinated by the stories behind the music—who created it, how it moved, and the communities that shaped it.
That curiosity led me to become a traveler in search of those answers, immersing myself in black communities Central and South America, Africa documenting my journeys and life as a street performer.
In 2020, I founded Femme Funk, a platform celebrating Black women's contributions to culture globally. In 2025, I premiered The Chipo Kandake Revue: Black Magic Woman in New Orleans, a sold-out production tracing the roots of American music through the artists and communities who shaped it.

Detroit.
I am currently expanding on the revue, focusing on Detroit's influence on music and popular culture globally. Through film, performance, and archival research, the project explores the legacy of WGPR, Electrifying Mojo, Techno, and the Dance cultures that emerged alongside them.

Future iterations of the Revue expand from New Orleans into Detroit, exploring the connections between Black social dance, radio culture, electronic music, and collective memory.
