This painting is from the time I finally stopped letting fear rule me. I was feeling down, with so much burning inside. Overwhelmed, I felt all my emotions getting crushed by my perfectionism. I usually let it out with dance, but I was injured—forced to sit down and in desperate need of an outlet. I'd wanted to paint my whole life, but I was too terrified of color to start, so scared of "messing up." The truth is, I was the mess, and I was about to explode. To save myself from a nervous breakdown, I just said, "F*ck it, let's see what happens."
